GIVING RETREATS (3 units)

The aim of the course is to train the students to give short preached retreats to various groups. The objectives are: (1) to learn the basic principles and skills of retreat giving; (2) to experience different ways of praying and to teach others the different ways of praying; (3) to design, facilitate and give a one-day recollection and a weekend retreat; (4) to understand the basic framework of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

Requirements: (a) book report on the life of St. Ignatius; (b) reflection papers on assigned readings, (c) design an actual day of recollection, (d) design and implement an actual weekend retreat.

Prerequisite: The student must have an experience of (1) receiving spiritual direction; (2) attending a weekend silent retreat (preached or individually directed retreat)

Maximum number of students: 20
